Module 3 Objectives:

- Buccal Plate Fractures: List causes, prevent their occurrence, and manage them when they happen.
- Bone Chips: Identify causes, avoid creating or leaving them, and manage bone chips appropriately.
- Bleeding Types: Differentiate capillary, venous, and arterial bleeding.
- Hemostasis: Control intraoperative bleeding using local and hemostatic measures.
- Pain: Define postoperative pain and understand its etiology.
- Dry Socket: Identify causes, diagnose accurately, and treat confidently.
- Post-Op Infections: List causes and manage most postoperative infections.
- Edema vs Infection: Discern between postoperative edema and infection; apply strategies to limit edema.
- Liver Clots: Recognize liver clots, understand why they form, and resolve them.
- Hematomas: State causes and manage/limit their extent when they develop.
- Adjacent Teeth: Avoid damaging neighbouring teeth and manage iatrogenic injuries appropriately.
- Wound Dehiscence: Describe why dehiscence forms and manage it to full resolution.
- Tissue Tears: Avoid tearing flaps or tissue; manage torn tissue when it occurs.
- Healing Timeline: Recall the expected timeline for normal extraction-site healing.
- Trismus: Describe trismus and understand its causes and management.
- Burns & Avulsive Injuries: State causes and treat these tissue injuries.
- Puncture Injuries: Prevent or limit puncture injuries and manage them when they occur.
- Sequestra: Recognize mylohyoid ridge sequestrum and explain/ manage lingual bony sequestra.
- Broken Instruments: Identify causes of broken instruments and manage breakage safely.
