Meet Dr. Jason Hoium
I’m Dr. Jason Hoium, a general dentist practicing in Saskatchewan, Canada, and the creator of OnlineExodontia.com. I graduated with a D.M.D. from the University of Saskatchewan in 2012 and have been on a mission to redefine continuing education by bridging the gap between academics and the real world.
To this day, I can vividly remember struggling to remove a lower second molar on a nervous patient. Her anesthesia was less than ideal, the case was taking far too long, and part way through I knew I had gotten in over my head. I was lost on what instrument to use, where to elevate, and what to do next. If only I knew then what I know now — it never would have happened.
As a dentist on paper — and an entrepreneur at heart — I only had to experience that sense of total failure once to know I had to do something. I’ve always felt driven to challenge the status quo, and that experience compelled me to help ensure other dentists don’t have to feel undereducated, underprepared, or helpless during extractions.
Creating this course has allowed me to impact thousands of dentists around the world who are now thriving in their practices with greater confidence and enjoyment in oral surgery procedures.

My Perspective on Education
In private practice, I saw countless patients with broken-down teeth needing extractions and quickly experienced the gaps in my formal education. Dental school left me “in the plane on the runway,” with theory but no clear path to take flight. I created this course to act as your flight manual for basic oral surgery, with me as your flight instructor.

Why I Created This Course
Watching my father, a veterinarian of over 30 years, retire with a wealth of knowledge made me realize how much we lose when experience isn’t passed down. He often said, “Experience is what you gain one second after you needed it.” That stuck with me.
After years of wishing someone would create a more practical oral surgery course, I decided to do it myself.
